Box Office News July 31 - Special Blog Issue
Having brushed up everyone’s Shakespeare with KISS ME KATE, the Franklin Civic Operetta Association intends to lend new luster to its next offering, Neil Simon’s classic THE ODD COUPLE.
Fresh from his dual-role BCT debut in KISS ME KATE, Nick Mitchell wears two hats for this production as well. Nick brings creativity, expertise, and comic flair to his role as director and to his portrayal of Oscar Madison. Christian Marshall fans (we know who you are!) will delight in his casting as America’s favorite neurotic neat freak, Felix Ungar. A gifted actor with a natural comedic style, Christian is sure to be a crowd-pleaser in this role.
Witnessing Felix’s angst from their seats at a nearby poker table are three BCT veterans and one newcomer. Ben Bodamer and Nick Keeley, both seen earlier this year in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, trade their Southern drawls for the dulcet tones of “New Yawk” and “Joisey” to play Roy and Speed. Bill Hennessy, who made his acting debut in KISS ME KATE, takes his second turn on the boards as fast-drawing, slow-dealing Murray the Cop. Completing this quartet – hysterically – is Pittsburgh actor Andy Coleman in his first Barrow-Civic appearance. Andy plays the affable but oh-so-clueless Vinnie.
For both sugar and spice, FCOA’s ODD COUPLE looks to Katie Kirby-Rogers and Lisa Harry as the Pigeon sisters, Cecily and Gwendolyn. Hilarity ensues when these British babes enter stage left and plans for the evening take wing.
Cooper Oliver and Mary Anne Wilkinson are the show’s producers. Order your tickets today on-line at http://www.barrowtheatre.com/ or by calling 814-437-3440 or 800-537-7769.
OLD TIME RADIO HITS THE AIR!
See you Saturday or Sunday for the Barrow-Civic's Old Time Radio Troupe's "Greatet Hits" show. Saturday August 1st at 8pm and Sunday August 2 at 2pm, Little Theatre. Tickets $7.00
The BCT Old Time Radio Troupe will be performing a "Greatest Hits" show, featuring the favorite plays that had our audiences laughing like mad, or shaking in their seats. There will be hilarious repartee and spooky chills as we re-create our re-creations.
We might be doing another "Bickersons" episode, as John and Blanche trade quips while John fights off snoring -- unsuccessfully. Or will we be dusting off a "Burns and Allen" show? Will there be a scary play about monsters from "Lights Out"? A sci-fi thriller from "X-Minus One"? A wistful love tale from "Fort Laramie"? We can guarantee an episode of our own local heroine -- Franklin Frankie. But to find out exactly what we'll be doing, you'll have to come.
And don't forget -- coming this October -- the most famous radio play in history, one that scared the heck out of the whole country -- "The War of the Worlds."

Planning to attend the August 7 opening of THE ODD COUPLE? Be sure to arrive early and join us for the Opening Night Gala in the Little Theatre. The festivities begin at 7 p.m.
Oscar and Felix have been arguing over- that is, collaborating on - the creation of something scrumptious to serve at the dessert reception. There will be no charge for dessert; a cash bar will be available.

We at the Barrow-Civic look forward to viewing their works in your company. Please join us!
